In questa “sezione” delle news parleremo del progetto di Ben Gibbard e Jimmy Tamborello. Supponendo che voi già conosciate la band e la sua storia, ho pensato di rinfrescarvi la memoria al punto in cui tutto si è fermato, o meglio sulle ultime dichiarazioni rilasciate giusto pochi giorni fa. (n.d.r. non tradurrò le dichiarazioni fatte dai due componenti della band, se qualcuno di voi dovesse incontrare dei problemi nel leggerle e non avesse voglia di sfogliare un dizionario mi contatti tranquillamente

Il 29 febbraio 2008 il sito internet Spinner rilasciava un articolo in cui diceva che i Postal Service avrebbero potuto non realizzare mai un nuovo album. Le ultime notizie certe risalivano al 22 giugno 2006 quando Ben aveva dichiarato: “We’re slowly starting. We’re crawling right now, and whether that crawl turns into a walk remains to be seen. But we’ll know more towards the end of the year. I’ve just been touring so much and trying to find time to make it happen and make our schedules line up.” E Jimmy aveva aggiunto “We’re talking about wanting to finish an album by sometime next year, because we have to work with Death Cab’s schedule and stuff. I definitely want to do another one.” Questo lasciava aperto uno spiraglio di speranza per i fan ma nell’intervista a Spinner, sopra citata, Ben ha dichiarato: “It’s just not a priority for either of us, [...] So the next Postal Service record may or may never happen.”. Poi Ben ha continuato dicendo: “Jimmy and I are still throwing ideas back and forth, but as time goes on, we find ourselves busy with our own music.” E inoltre: “We have some stuff, but it’s been difficult to find the time and the drive to do the record. I’d love to finish it at some point and maybe even do some performances. If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.”
Il problema quindi sembra il poco tempo a disposizione visti i rispettivi impegni nei propri progetti principali. Nonostante ciò, la frase “If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be” di Ben sembra riaprire un pò quello spiraglio che avevamo intravisto.
